I specialize in connecting people to resources that help them learn better, work better, and live better. I have made it my mission to build a consulting firm that provides individuals, business, and agencies with optimal technical assistance and support. Since I started this company in 1998, I have helped hundreds of clients realize their potential, build their businesses, and optimize their services.
I am a native Angelino, having been raised in some of the toughest neighborhoods in Los Angeles. I attended LAUSD schools and despite the lingering struggles of the district, received a solid education thanks to having some amazing teachers along the way. Determined to change my circumstances, I participated several academic programs, most notably the federally-funded TRiO Upward Bound program. Through this program I learned that resiliency – the ability to bounce back – would be my saving grace. I also learned that my success rested upon my ability to take advantage of the opportunities around me.
As a result of these experiences, I carefully shaped my career around providing opportunities for others to succeed. I have a passion for educational opportunity and achievement and believe that the acquisition of knowledge is key in all that we do. Over the years, I have held various positions within academia and the nonprofit sector. In 2001, I co-founded the Community Outreach and Opportunity Programs (CO-OP). We celebrated our 10-year Anniversary in August 2011. I currently serve as CO-OP’s President and CEO.
I am an established author having presented and published my work via both National and International circuits. I have secured over $20 million in grant funds and contributions for various nonprofit agencies and programs. I lead a network of a dozen interconnected nonprofit agencies throughout Southern California. I have assisted thousands of youth with pursing their college goals. I have a track record of success, a solid reputation, and a knack for telling it like it is!
I see education as the foundation to all of the work I do. As such, I have benefited from a solid collegiate career. I completed my undergraduate education at USC, receiving both a BA in Psychology and African American Studies, and continued on to receive my M.S. in Education Administration. I completed my Ed.D. in Organizational Leadership at Pepperdine University. I continue to enroll in courses and workshops whenever I can and I doubt that I have completed my studies. There will always be more to learn…
